Marcy Dam was perhaps one of the most iconic locations in the Adirondacks. The view of the mountains and water
from the dam was one of the finest in the Adirondacks. I took this photo several years ago on the way back from one of my excursions
up Mount Marcy to photograph the view from the summit for the panoramic posters we were producing. I had climbed Marcy
to reach the summit by sunrise and headed back down around mid-morning, getting back to Marcy Dam around lunchtime.
The calm winds on this idyllic summer day, allowed a wonderful reflection of the mountains in the still waters behind Marcy Dam.
The dam washed out in 2011during Hurricane Irene and will be dismantled.
